Hey, there! Time for some fun in the sun! Axel absolutely loves to be outdoors. We started noticing it when he was just a couple of months old, it just seemed to calm him. He loves going to check out his farm animals with his dad or going on stroller rides with me. It’s always a great idea to get your little ones outdoors for some fresh air! But before you do, there are a few important things you will need to protect your baby outdoors. Keep reading to find out the top 3 items you need to protect your little one on all of their outdoor adventures!
1. Sun Protection
So, I’ve spoken a bit about gut health and ways to protect your baby there. But what about outdoor safety? You need a good dose of SPF! Sun protection is extremely important when out playing under the sun’s harmful rays. But finding a good one to meet your baby’s needs is also very important. Going for something that’s made with plant-based ingredients and free of PABA, phthalates, parabens, fragrances, and nano-particles is the best route to go.
We love to apply BabyGanics® Mineral-Based Sunscreen from Walmart on Axel to help protect his skin when we are outdoors. They have some great sunscreen options to choose from to fit you and your baby’s needs. If you like the classic lotion style, go for the BabyGanics Mineral-Based Sunscreen Lotion. For quick, tear-free spray-on application, use the BabyGanics SPF 50 Mineral-Based Sunscreen Spray. And if you need something small, compact, and perfect for traveling, opt for the Babyganics SPF 50 Pure Mineral Sunscreen Stick. Either way, you will get a great sunscreen that is non-allergenic, tear-free, water-resistant, and made with plant-based ingredients!
2. Stay Hydrated
Secondly, staying hydrated when playing out in the sun is a key component to protect your baby outdoors. I make sure to keep a large bottle of water and a cup handy for Axel at all times. If your baby is not old enough to have water, make sure to have formula or breastmilk available to avoid overheating and dehydration. Please, consult with your pediatrician to see which is the best option for your baby. I usually try to also, carry an insulated case with an ice pack to keep the water cool. Plus, the ice pack comes in handy if we need a cold compress to cool down or for a little bruise if he falls.
3. Bug Repellent
Last but not least, you need a good baby-friendly bug repellent. I am not a fan of getting mosquito bites and I can imagine they would be no fun for baby either. Making sure to apply some form of bug repellent, that is made for baby use, will also help protect your baby outdoors. If you typically look for plant-based options for your baby, it will usually say that it is DEET-Free on the bottle. BabyGanics also carries a great insect repellent that will help protect your baby from mosquitoes, gnats, and flies!
In short, to protect your baby outdoors you need to make sure they stay hydrated, apply sunscreen, like BabyGanics Mineral Sunscreen, and bug repellent! Essentially, it is the same routine you should follow to protect yourself when outdoors. The only difference is using products that are made just for your little ones, like BabyGanics from Walmart! Start your baby off with a good set of principles on how they should take care of themselves as they grow when playing outside. By the time they’re old enough to understand why it’s so important, they’ll have it down packed!
Are you excited about warmer weather and getting outdoors? What kind of adventures do you have planned for yourself and your little ones?
