After days of craving a lobster roll, I decided I was going to have one this past Monday night since Nate going to CHOPS with his boss. I started searching for restaurants that I could order for pick-up on my ride home. I couldn’t find too many places that made them in the North Atlanta area, and the one that I did, was $18! It just wasn’t that serious for me to spend almost 20 bucks on a sandwich just for myself! So, I figured maybe I could just make one, it would probably be much cheaper (I’m on a strict budget over the next few months, I’ll fill you in on why later). I googled lobster roll recipes and it was so easy! How have I never thought to try this before?! I had a good bit of stuff already at home, but here’s how to make your own.

Before I jump into the ingredients, I totally thought that you could buy cooked chopped lobster meat from your local grocery store like you would with shrimp (shows you how well of a cook I am lol). This is not the case for most stores. If they offer it this way, definitely go with that! If not, check to see if they carry a frozen cooked lobster meat option like I had to go with. But here’s everything I used and how I made it!

Ingredients:

  • Pier 33 Gourmet Wild Caught Langostino Lobster Tails 8 oz (Or any pre-cut cooked lobster, check to see if they have it fresh instead of using frozen.)
  • Salt and Pepper
  • mayonnaise
  • 1 Lemon
  • Capers
  • Parsley
  • A single hoagie (bakery in your local grocery store)

Instructions:

  1. Thaw your lobster tails in just 10 min by soaking them in a bowl of cold water. Once thawed, I rinsed them off just to make sure they were clean and then added to a clean bowl.
  2. Add mayo to the bowl and mix well until the lobster tails are completely covered.
  3. Next, add some salt and pepper, parsley, squeeze a lemon, and add some capers to the mix. Stir well.
  4. Let the mixture soak in the fridge for 10 min while your prep your bread.
  5. Take your hoagie and slice it down the middle. I added butter to mine, but if you’re not a fan, you can always do without. Toast in the oven on broil 500° for about 3-4 min.
  6. Last, take your lobster mix and fill up the hoagie and it’s ready to serve. Enjoy!

I must say, I was super nervous about how it was going to turn out, but it was bomb-dot-com! And since I am still alive to write this post, I will say it was a success! lol But really, it was very yummy. Next time I definitely want to try to find fresh cooked chopped lobster to use, or even just getting a tail or two to steam myself. I can only imagine it would taste ten times better!
